One Last Playthrough of Ocarina of Time Before the Remake

I recently replayed Ocarina of Time and 100% completed the original N64 version. No Master Quest, not the 3DS version - just vanilla OG Ocarina of Time. I even played the second cartridge printing without the original Fire Temple music, although I do still have my gold cartridge. I played on Switch 2 NSO.

I had an absolute blast.

I wanted to refresh my memory of the puzzles, dungeon layouts, and overall progression before the remake arrives. That way I can really appreciate the subtle differences and nuance in the remake.

This time through, though, I made a point of being more intentional about how I approached them. The Water Temple was a particularly fun experience. Instead of just fumbling my way through and making sure I didn't miss that one infamous key, I actually thought through the dungeon, planned where I needed to go, and figured out when to raise and lower the water levels.

I also spent plenty of time completing side quests between dungeons. I'd look at the items I had acquired and think about which Heart Pieces and Gold Skulltulas I could reach, or which areas I could revisit. It was a lot of fun approaching the game that way.

Now I'm ready for the remake!

I can't wait to see how Nintendo has reimagined Hyrule, what they've changed about the dungeons, and especially whether they've expanded on the original story and lore with new cutscenes.

I'm expecting to make my way through this one pretty quickly, and considering how much fun I had revisiting the original, I can't wait to experience it all over again.

Ocarina of Time is my favorite game of all time. Getting to revisit it with modern visuals and potentially some new surprises is something I've been looking forward to for a LONG time.

Not much longer now.

Less than 24 hours to go!
