Consolidated Financial Highlights

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Switch 2 sold 4.54M during Q2

  • Switch 2 has reached 10.36M units LTD

  • Switch 1 sold 0.91M units during Q2 (-65.2% down YoY)

  • Switch 1 has sold 154.01M LTD sales

Starting with Switch 1, I’m impressed it held up well from Q1 to Q2, selling almost one million units worldwide per quarter. It looks like Nintendo is still expecting a solid holiday for Switch 1, with a forecast of 4M for the fiscal year. The Switch JUST MISSED overtaking the Nintendo DS this quarter! The DS sits at 154.02M LTD. The Switch has already passed it in real time, but Nintendo won't confirm this until the next financial report covering the holidays in early 2026.

Can the Switch 1 still pass the PS2? It depends on whether Nintendo really wants to at this point. Switch is selling very well with Switch 2 now out on the market. Raising the price didn’t help it but if it can reach it’s target, it will be just north of 156M at the end of the fiscal year. Then it all depends on how many units Nintendo will ship in FY2027 - the Switch’s 10th year on the market.

As for Switch 2, it is still on track to for being the fastest-selling console ever:

Nintendo increased it’s Switch 2 forecast to 19M units.

Donkey Kong Bonanza did very well in its first quarter. I think it will do very well over the holidays and have a nice, evergreen tail. Mario Kart World has an insanely high attach rate.

It will be a lot of fun to watch how both Switch systems perform over the holiday season.
